ILLUSTRATION

I love working in traditional ways with digital tools. My philosophy is to make digital images look warm like analog artwork. Especially, to show the artist’s hand in the work, with layers and transparency and accidents, etc.

MAPS

These works are a few of the many maps that I have made over the years. Many are for visitor centers and they act as informative diagrams that that work towards interpreting an area’s history, flora, fauna and features more than for navigation. These give a sense of floating over the land in a bird’s eye view.

ADVERTISING

Advertising is where I have been able to work as Art Director and designer/illustrator, or with a really good art director from a much larger company. This experience has been one of the more educational facets of my business. Working with national companies and how they function has taught me about communication and cooperation for a specific and complete design solution.

EDITORIAL

Some of these editorial illustrations are for national publications like USAToday or National Parks Magazine. Another set is from Restaurant Biz Magazine about some national food tours. Also included are some maps for a book about the historical visitors to North America - before Columbus.

SITEPLAN

For a period of time I worked with a group of designers that specialized in landscape architecture and urban planning. This called for working to scale on maps as well as making presentation graphics for proposals. This was a very formative period in my career as well as giving me some new skills that was to prepare me for my later map career. These site plan graphics are for developers visitor centers and other presentations for companies and entities that have land for various types of use.
